Losing Lila Sarah Alderson Books

Actual rating 3.5 stars.

I really liked this follow up to ‘Hunting Lila.’ A group of teens with special abilities on the run from a maniacal Military Contract Organisation. Winner, winner chicken dinner.

It was great to see our protagonist Lila get a little more independence; although that was counteracted by her swooning and needing Alex (her love interest and brothers best friend) all the time. It felt a little weak. It was compounded by the narrative tone and actions of Lila (and Suki) which came of as childish far too often. But I had less problems stopping me from enjoying the novel than I did in the first book of the series ‘Hunting Lila.’

‘Losing Lila’ is very much like a Disney or NickTeen movie of the week. Saccharine sweet, moments of stereotypical teen behaviour mixed with an action infused plot. I do class it as a guilty pleasure though, I got caught up in the subterfuge, the development of their psychic abilities, and was floored by a few of the plot twists I didn’t see coming.

The story itself is engaging. I think if the comical notes of the story were approached differently, they could have pulled the story along in that Buffy-like pun in the middle of action style.

The element of family, and how it was woven into the storyline was fun; and I appreciated how bonds are tested and reshaped. Though there was some moments where I thought it was too premeditated by the author.

I think I like the relationship between Lila and Alex the least, even if they are the main characters in ‘Losing Lila.’ There was no tension and build up, it moved right into this desperate place that felt like it lacked substance - it was the 10 year old girl’s version of love.

Great follow up and conclusion to the series, probably better suited to a younger tween audience, but still an interesting way to spend a winter’s day tucked up on the couch with a light action-filled book.

Losing Lila Sarah Alderson Books Reviews

OMG READ THIS BOOK!IT IS AMAZING!SARAH ALDERSON IS A PURE GENIUS-THE NEXT J.K.ROWLING TBH!! D suuuuch a great read it's deffo one of the best books i've EVER read and trust me,i read A LOT of good books! D
I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the first book. This one was so predictable. I won't bother reading the next book.
Tons of action in this one, loved it! There were some great Alex & Lila moments, although they did make me mad at some parts. The last couple of chapters were pretty intense! I loved the POV from Alex at the end )
I have read both Hunting Lila and just read Losing Lila, personally I am not much of a reader, but I really enjoyed reading these books so much that I never wanted to put them down. The romance between Lila and Alex in losing Lila kept me really interested in the book and for me the romance between the two of them was what made me not want to put this book down. I would highly recommend this book and the author Sarah Alderson to the young adult reading population as I feel teens would understand and enjoy this book more. All in all great book and definitely a 5 star read!
Ugh. See my review of the first book, 'Hunting Lila'.
I really wanted to like this duology. It had a cool premise, just executed poorly. Plus I wanted Lila to get lost and stay lost.
I am so into Alex and Lila. I didn't want the book to end. I was almost hesitant to start a new book, because I wanted the characters to stay with me for a while longer.

This book didn't grab me as much as Hunting Lila did. I found myself putting it down more readily until I hit about halfway. There's a turning point in the story and once I hit that, I couldn't stop reading it.

Once again Sarah Alderson writes a fast-paced, intense story filled with diverse, colourful characters. I grew to like Suki even more this time around. Her and Nate are so funny. It was cool to see Lila's Dad in it a little more too. But at the end of the day, Alex and Lila's romance made these books for me. I just couldn't get enough of them together )

All up, another stellar read.

4.5 stars from me.
In this book, Lila is less of a lovesick puppy, and more of a girl who's willing to do anything to save and protect the ones she loves. She still has her flaws, but hey, it makes Lila, Lila.

Once you near the end of the book, errors become more frequent. It's noticeable, but it didn't bother me. I just saw some incomplete sentences where a word should have been placed. Some words are also split apart in the mid dle like what I just did.

What I would have loved to see more of was romance. What I mostly saw in the book was Lila's thought of how hot he is and how much she loves him. Regular teenage hormonal thoughts. I like that. But I wanted to see more interaction. More heated scenes and misty eyed moments. The humor in the book is enough to balance out a heavier load of romance in it. So if Sarah Alderson added some more romance, it wouldn't appear cheesy since the humor and sarcasm in the book is enough to balance it out.

The ending was alright. But I would have liked a more definitive conclusion.[Lila and Alex don't know what to do with their lives except return to their special beach and go skinny dipping. Demos just leaves. Nate and Suki will see Lila and Alex again in the summer, which makes me happy that they will keep in contact. Maybe JAck and Amber are going to get together. As for Jack, Lila's mom and dad, we don't know. (hide spoiler)]

It was all too vague. And that's fine sometimes, but in this book I think it would have been better to at least know they're going to prosper or be happy.

Maybe it's just me, I can't be certain.

Overall, I'd say this is a nice book to read.
Congratulations Sarah Alderson, you've written yourself a damn good book.
